Monkton Junior SchoolEverybody Counts

This week, Year 3 played the part of archaeologists when we were visited by specialists from Durham University. We learnt about how skeletons are excavated and how to find out how long they have been buried! The visit was to round off our Stone Age to Iron Age topic and we had a great time making Bronze Age coins and investigating some genuine Stone Age artefacts.

Year 3 have been learning about plants in Science this term. We have planted a selection of vegetables and herbs. We also put our daffodils out.

Thurston 2018

Year 5 and 6 have had a fantastic adventure in Coniston this week when they visited Thurston. The children were able to push themselves to try things they may not have done before, such as: mountain climbing, abseiling, ghyll scrambling, tree climbing and many more! The children represented Monkton wonderfully and Andy, the head of Thurston, said they are a credit to our school! We are all so proud of your children!

Enjoy looking through the photos from an incredible week.
